Chamber of Commerce - 2010 Events May 17 - Culpepper and Merriweather Circus. This event was very popular when held in 2008. They will return for performances at 5:30 and 7:00, featuring animal acts, clowns, acrobats, a lady on the flying trapeze and much more under the big top.
June 4-6 - City-wide Spring Garage Sales. This is the largest in NE Kansas. We have an e-mail list of requests for maps that reaches most communities within a 30-mile radius.
July 24 - Cruise Nite. This is one of our most popular events. Held the night before the annual car show, you'll see hot rods, street rods, modifieds, classics and antiques. The age of the cars ranges from the 20's to current models. A simulcast of “oldies” rock 'n roll by KMZA is roadcast on Main St. as participants “cruise the route,” and show off their “wheels.” Anyone can participate and you'll see a number of families in their everyday transportation.
July 24 - Mutton Bustin'. Fun for kids, parents and grandparents as the kids hang on to lambs intent on bucking off the unwanted riders. Preceding the main event is a Kids Rodeo for those too young to ride the lambs.
September 3 - Annual Chamber Golf Tournament. Held at Spring Creek Golf Course, the tournament is used by many members to entertain customers and suppliers. The event also showcases our golf course and the Spring Creek development as well as our city.
September 17-19 - Highway 36 Great Treasure Hunt and City-wide Garage Sales. Begun in 2006, this event is continuing to grow in popularity. Shoppers from as far as California and Florida receive our maps.
October 23 - Annual Spookfest. Hundreds of kids gather for games, prizes, candy, costume judging and loads of fun in City Park for this event. It provides a safe, organized way for them to join in the recognition of Halloween.
November 26 - Santa Comes to Seneca. The Christmas lights come on and Santa and Mrs. Claus ride down Main St. in a horse-drawn buggy to listen to the kids' Christmas wish lists. Pictures are taken and bags of candy are passed out. Many of our Main St. businesses will have something special to offer.
December (date to be determined) - Kids Movie Matinee. For the admission price of a non-perishable food item donation to our local food pantry, they'll see a feature movie at the Seneca Twin Theatre. Santa will greet them as they leave and pass out candy canes.
